Food safety audits have become increasingly demanding as supply chains globalize, regulatory oversight intensifies, and certification bodies raise expectations on audit depth and consistency. ISO 22000 audits are no longer limited to system documentation; they must demonstrate effective hazard control, operational discipline, and management accountability for food safety outcomes.
This training is designed to meet those expectations. Over four intensive days, participants work through the complete audit lifecycle of a Food Safety Management System, from audit preparation to audit closure. ISO 22000 requirements are addressed from an auditor’s perspective, focusing on how food safety hazards, prerequisite programmes, HACCP plans, and management processes are verified in practice.
Abilene Academy’s methodology mirrors real certification audits. Participants analyze realistic FSMS scenarios, conduct simulated audit interviews, assess operational controls, and practice grading nonconformities. Particular attention is given to auditor judgment, consistency of findings, and communication with auditees in sensitive food safety contexts.
The course integrates ISO 22000 with ISO 19011 and ISO/IEC 17021-1 expectations, ensuring participants understand how certification bodies evaluate FSMS audits. By the end of the training, participants are able to lead audits that add value, withstand certification scrutiny, and support continuous improvement of food safety performance.
