ISO 9001 certification remains a contractual condition across European manufacturing, medical device, logistics, and public procurement supply chains, and the 2026 revision of the standard puts every certified organization through a transition audit cycle. Accreditation bodies apply ISO/IEC 17021-1 more strictly to audit competence, and customers increasingly send their own auditors into supplier sites. Remote audits, digital records, and data analysis tools have changed how evidence gets collected. Organizations and certification bodies need auditors who can lead a team, sample with intent, and reach conclusions that withstand challenge.
Over four days of instruction, participants audit a case organization step by step. Day 1 covers quality management principles, the ISO 9001 family, the certification process, and the requirements an auditor tests. Day 2 moves to audit principles, evidence-based and risk-based auditing, the impact of trends and technology on auditing, audit initiation, and the stage 1 audit. Day 3 addresses stage 2 preparation and execution, information collection and analysis methods, communication with auditees, and auditing each ISO 9001 requirement. Day 4 covers drafting findings and nonconformity reports, closing the audit, evaluating action plans, activities beyond the initial audit, and managing an internal audit program. Exercises and quizzes close each block, and the certification exam takes place on Day 5.
The training targets the points where audits lose credibility. Findings written without traceable evidence get overturned at technical review. Nonconformities graded inconsistently create disputes with the auditee and the certification body. Sampling that ignores process risk misses the failures that matter. Participants practice writing findings an auditee cannot dismiss, calibrating nonconformity severity, managing audit time against scope, and holding independence when the auditee pushes back during the closing meeting.
Participants leave able to lead an audit team through stage 1 and stage 2, produce an audit report and nonconformity reports that pass review, evaluate corrective action plans, and run an internal audit program. They receive more than 450 pages of training materials, a 31 CPD credit attestation, and sit the three hour PECB Certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor exam.
