Course Description

Artificial intelligence has moved from experimental technology to regulated, business-critical infrastructure. In the 2024–2025 landscape, organizations deploying AI systems face increasing scrutiny from regulators, customers, and internal governance bodies. The EU AI Act, sector regulations, and emerging supervisory practices require organizations to demonstrate not only innovation, but control, accountability, and documented decision making around AI risks.

This training addresses the gap between high-level AI principles and operational risk management. Participants do not merely review frameworks; they actively apply them. The course walks through how AI risks emerge across the lifecycle, from data selection and model design to deployment, monitoring, and change management. Emphasis is placed on bias, robustness, security, transparency, and compliance risks that are already triggering enforcement actions and governance failures.

Abilene Academy’s approach is grounded in real advisory work. Trainers bring concrete examples of how organizations structure AI risk governance, allocate responsibilities, and produce evidence expected by auditors and regulators. Exercises focus on framing AI risks in clear language, selecting proportionate mitigation measures, and embedding AI risk management into existing enterprise risk and governance structures.

Rather than treating AI risk as a purely technical problem, the course aligns technical, legal, and business perspectives. Participants practice making defensible trade-offs, documenting rationale, and reporting AI risk exposure in a way that supports informed decision making. The result is a practical capability to manage AI risk as a governance discipline, not a theoretical exercise.

    • Understand AI risk management fundamentals, including key concepts, approaches, and techniques for identifying, assessing, and mitigating AI-related risks
    • Apply established AI risk management frameworks, such as the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and the EU AI Act, to ensure governance, compliance, and ethical AI use
    • Identify and assess AI risks, such as bias, security vulnerabilities, transparency issues, and ethical concerns
    • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and incident response measures to address AI-related threats and vulnerabilities
    • Integrate AI risk management into business strategy, ensuring AI initiatives align with organizational objectives while maintaining compliance with industry regulations

Professional Testimonials

Had a great experience learning with Abilene Academy, it has been an extremely long time since I have attended an external formal training outside of the business organization I work in. I found this training to be truly beneficial for me to attend. the overall delivery of the course by Henri was superb, he kept us well engage despite having half of the room online and half face to face. The communication from the advisors from the initial enquiry regrading the course up until now has also been great! definitely recommending to my colleagues. Thank you!
