ISO 14001 Transition is a two-day PECB course that takes EMS professionals through every change between ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 14001:2026 and shows how to update a certified EMS to the new edition. It ends with a one-hour PECB exam leading to the PECB Certified ISO 14001:2026 Transition credential.
ISO published ISO 14001:2026 on 15 April 2026, and every organization certified to ISO 14001:2015 now has to move to it within a 36-month transition. The course is built for people who already run, audit or advise on an EMS, so it spends its time on what changed rather than on environmental management basics.
Day 1 covers the scope of the revision, context of the organization and leadership. Day 2 works through planning, support, operation, performance evaluation and improvement, with the changed clauses of ISO 14001:2026 as the reference. Around 60 percent of the time goes to exercises in which participants revise document fragments from a realistic EMS and test them against what a certification auditor would accept.

The PECB Certified ISO 14001:2026 Transition exam runs one hour in multiple-choice format, with a 70 percent pass score. It covers two competence domains: differences between ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 14001:2026 main clauses, and understanding, planning, and implementing the 2026 changes. The exam is currently available in English only.
