ISO 9001 Transition

ISO 9001:2026 is the first revision of the quality management standard since 2015, and every organization holding an ISO 9001 certificate must move to the new edition within the transition period set by accreditation bodies. Certification bodies will audit against the revised requirements, so quality teams that treat the update as a relabeling exercise risk nonconformities on clauses that now carry new expectations: quality culture, ethical behavior, planning of changes, and the separate handling of risks and opportunities. For quality managers in 2026, the question is no longer whether to transition but how fast they can produce evidence that the system already meets the new text.

Over two days, participants compare ISO 9001:2026 against ISO 9001:2015 clause by clause, from context of the organization and leadership through planning, support, operation, performance evaluation, and improvement. They work through exercises that take a sample QMS and ask them to classify each change as new, revised, reorganized, or unchanged, then decide what documentation, process owners, and records each change affects. Quizzes at the end of each block test whether participants can cite the clause behind every conclusion they reach.

The training targets the problems that stall real transitions. Quality culture and ethical behavior requirements lack obvious documentary evidence, so participants define what an auditor will accept. Change planning requirements expose QMS updates made without documented rationale. Organizational knowledge, customer communication, and design and development updates cut across departments, and participants practice assigning accountability so the transition does not sit entirely with the quality function. Management review inputs also change, and participants rework a review agenda to match.

Participants leave able to run a gap analysis on their own QMS, produce a prioritized transition plan, brief top management on the actions each department owns, and defend their interpretation of each revised clause during a certification audit. They sit the one hour PECB ISO 9001:2026 Transition exam, receive more than 150 pages of training materials and a 14 CPD credit attestation, and qualify for a free retake within 12 months.
