Should I take ISO 9001 Transition, Lead Implementer or Lead Auditor?

Take ISO 9001 Transition if you already know ISO 9001:2015 and need to move a QMS or your own competence to the 2026 edition in two days. Take Lead Implementer to learn to build and run a QMS, or Lead Auditor to lead certification audits. Each of those is a four-day course.

The three courses do different jobs. ISO 9001 Transition is a two-day update on the differences between ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 9001:2026, with a one-hour exam and no experience requirement. It assumes you already understand how a QMS works.

ISO 9001 Lead Implementer is a four-day course for people who will establish, implement, maintain and improve a QMS, and is the right start for someone new to owning a quality system. ISO 9001 Lead Auditor is a four-day course on planning, conducting and closing certification audits and managing an audit programme under ISO 19011 guidance.

A new edition of the standard does not by itself cancel a personal Lead Implementer or Lead Auditor credential, which follows its own maintenance rules. What changes is what you are expected to know. For credential holders, the Transition course is the efficient way to update to the 2026 text and show it with a dedicated certificate.

Organizations moving a larger or integrated QMS often need both: one owner trained to implement and several people updated through Transition. See who the Transition course is for and what the Transition training covers.
