Foundation covers BCMS fundamentals so you can support the system without leading it. Lead Implementer prepares you to design and roll out a full BCMS. Lead Auditor qualifies you to lead ISO 22301 certification audits in line with ISO 19011.
The ISO 22301 Foundation course focuses on understanding how a business continuity management system (BCMS) works as a management system: its structure, its core requirements and the governance logic behind it. It is the entry point for professionals who need to support a BCMS without leading its implementation or auditing it.
Lead Implementer goes further: it teaches you to design the BCMS, run business impact analyses, define continuity strategies and plans, and steer the organisation toward certification. It is aimed at the people who will carry operational responsibility for building and running the system.
Lead Auditor is independent of the implementer role: it prepares you to lead BCMS certification audits against ISO 22301 and ISO 19011. Foundation is the natural first step; those taking on operational responsibility progress to Lead Implementer, while internal-audit and certification-body profiles choose Lead Auditor. The three are distinct PECB credentials that reinforce one another but answer to different roles and career moments.
Foundation establishes the operational baseline; Lead Implementer teaches you to build the system; Lead Auditor develops the judgement to evaluate it. All three reinforce one another, but they answer to different roles and different moments in a career.
“Foundation understands the system, Lead Implementer builds it, Lead Auditor evaluates it.”

ISO 22301 is the international standard for Business Continuity Management Systems (BCMS). It provides a framework to help organizations prepare for, respond to, and recover from disruptive incidents — protecting operations, reputation, and stakeholder trust.
The course is suited for professionals involved in continuity, resilience, or compliance. It is also appropriate for those considering a career in business continuity.
ISO 22301 uses the same high level structure as other ISO management standards. This enables integration with existing governance, risk, and compliance systems.
The exam covers fundamental BCMS principles and ISO 22301 requirements. It tests understanding rather than implementation expertise.
