MS-102 is designed for M365 administrator candidates who have completed a role-based path and need end-to-end tenant responsibility, systems administrators managing hybrid Microsoft estates, SecOps professionals using Defender and Identity Protection, and compliance or governance leads enforcing retention and DLP policies.
At least one M365 role-based certification path or equivalent hands-on practice is required. Working familiarity with user and group administration, cloud concepts, and basic identity and security operations is expected.
Without that foundation, the practical exercises in the 5-day course will be unmanageable. Professionals new to M365 administration should build foundational skills through role-based certifications such as MS-900 or a workload-specific path before attending MS-102.
