Four credentials are available based on professional experience. Certified Provisional Disaster Recovery Manager requires no prior experience. Certified Disaster Recovery Manager requires 2 years of experience including 1 in ICT DR and 200 hours of project work. Certified Lead Disaster Recovery Manager requires 5 years including 2 in ICT DR and 300 hours. Certified Senior Lead Disaster Recovery Manager requires 10 years including 7 in ICT DR and 1,000 hours. All require signing the PECB Code of Ethics.
After you pass the PECB Lead Disaster Recovery Manager exam, you can apply for one of four credentials. Each one depends on how much work experience and how many hours of disaster recovery activity you can document. All four require you to sign the PECB Code of Ethics.
The Certified Provisional Disaster Recovery Manager credential requires no professional experience and no project hours. It suits people who are new to disaster recovery or who want a recognised credential before they build a track record.
The Certified Disaster Recovery Manager credential requires two years of work experience, including at least one year in ICT disaster recovery management, plus a total of 200 hours of ICT disaster recovery activity.
The Certified Lead Disaster Recovery Manager credential requires five years of work experience, including at least two years in ICT disaster recovery management, plus a total of 300 hours of disaster recovery activity. This is the level that matches a lead role on a recovery programme.
The Certified Senior Lead Disaster Recovery Manager credential requires ten years of work experience, including seven years in ICT disaster recovery management, plus a total of 1,000 hours of disaster recovery activity.
Disaster recovery activity typically covers work such as developing disaster recovery plans, conducting business impact analyses and risk assessments, and selecting recovery strategies. Keep a dated record of your projects and hours from the start, because PECB asks for evidence when you apply.
PECB sets and updates these requirements, so check the current table on the PECB website before you apply.
